Vanguard Global Technology Index (Hedged) ETF (VTKH) — Review & Analysis

VTKH is the AUD-hedged version of VTEK, with $11 million in assets as at May 2026. Vanguard launched VTKH on 25 March 2026 at 0.26% MER — making it the cheapest currency-hedged global technology ETF on the ASX. The fund holds the same underlying portfolio as VTEK (~200 global tech stocks) with the AUD/USD currency exposure systematically hedged out. This directly competes with HNDQ (Betashares hedged Nasdaq 100, 0.51% MER) on price.

To compare VTKH side-by-side with every other ETF on the ASX, see the full ETF directory.

VTKH's underlying equity portfolio is identical to VTEK — Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Alphabet (A and C), Broadcom, Meta, Tesla, AMD, Adobe and Oracle in the top 10 — together making up roughly 50% of the fund. The only difference is the AUD currency hedge: Vanguard sells USD forwards monthly to neutralise the currency exposure. VTKH at 0.26% is roughly half the cost of HNDQ at 0.51% MER — a meaningful gap that will likely shift institutional flows over time.

VTKH pays distributions quarterly (late March, June, September and December) at a minimal yield. There are no franking credits. In the 2 months since launch, VTKH outperformed unhedged VTEK as the AUD strengthened against the USD — when AUD-hedged products tend to win. Over multi-year periods, hedged vs unhedged outcomes depend heavily on AUD/USD direction.

VTKH is the right choice when you want global tech exposure without the currency variable. Retirees and near-retirees with defined withdrawal timelines often prefer hedged tech exposure to lock in returns. VTKH is now the cheapest way to get hedged global tech on the ASX — likely to compound flows over time as the fee leadership becomes recognised.
